Give a little togetherness

The Beacon Café runs out of St Mary’s Church in Ferndown.

It’s open Monday to Friday, 9am-3pm.

Over 60 volunteers keep the café running.

‘Although the café is set up on a church site, it’s open to everyone in the community. People describe it as a welcoming place. You can stay for hours if you wish, no one will ask you to move on, and people with particular health problems (such as Alzheimer’s) are given a special welcome.

‘We keep prices as low as possible, and those with no money will always be able to get a warm drink and a snack.

‘If you’re on your own, and fancy a chat, our staff are happy to talk. It is a place of refuge and help, even if you’ve lost your keys or your car has broken down!”
