Vaccinations are one of the simplest and most effective ways to protect not only yourself but also those around you.
The NHS in Dorset is bringing vaccinations to the residents of Bournemouth by attending the local Age UK Day Centre on Monday 7 October, as well as other walk in clinics across the winter months.
People can drop in to see Holly Wentworth, a lead vaccination nurse for flu and COVID-19 vaccinations 11:00am – 2:30pm at the Age UK Bournemouth, Poole & East Dorset Day Centre in the United Reform Church, Charminster.
Holly, who works with Dorset HealthCare , said “The flu virus changes each year, which is why it’s important to get vaccinated annually to be protected against the latest strains.
“It’s the same with COVID-19. Keeping up with your COVID-19 vaccinations helps to protect against new variants. By getting vaccinated, you lower your chances of catching these viruses and experiencing severe symptoms, which means fewer missed days of work or social activities and less risk of spreading illness to vulnerable people in your life.”
Diana Logan, Age UK Day Centre Manager said: “It’s great to have health clinics like this come to us. For many people, booking an appointment for a vaccination can be a hassle, or it’s something that’s easy to forget.
“This walk-in clinic removes that barrier—there’s no need for an appointment, and you can simply drop in when it’s convenient for you between 11:00 am and 2:30 pm. It’s quick, easy, and an important step to keeping yourself healthy through the colder months.
Pregnant woman, people over 65, and those with long term health conditions can have both flu and COVID-19 vaccinations, while unpaid carers and children age 2 and 3 are eligible or the flu vaccination only.
