Protect yourself from flu this winter with vaccinations.

Hi, my name is Holly.
I am one of the nurses who give people vaccinations to help protect them from getting ill.
If you have a learning disability, then have your flu vaccination this winter to help you stay well.
Watch this video of Holly giving people their vaccinations at their day centre in Parkstone, Poole.
About the flu vaccination

We want you to stay healthy this winter.

Every winter lots of people get ill with flu.

Some people with a learning disability are more likely to be very ill if they get flu.

The best way to avoid getting very poorly with flu is to have vaccination.
This is an injection and is it free and quick.

Having your vaccinations doesn’t stop you getting flu, but you should feel much less ill.

Family carers can also have the free flu vaccination, to help keep you and them safe.

Paid support workers can have the free flu vaccination.
This helps to protect them. It also means they are less likely to pass these viruses on to you.
Where to have yours

Your doctors surgery will tell you where you can have your flu vaccination.
You might be able to have your flu vaccination at your doctors surgery.
